Equifax Data Breach
At Kauai Community Federal Credit Union, we value our relationship with our members and we take the privacy, protection and security of your personal information and accounts seriously.
As you may already know, on September 7, 2017, Equifax, one of three major consumer credit reporting agencies, announced a data breach that potentially impacts 143 million people. Personal information such as name, address, date of birth, driver's license and Social Security numbers may have been compromised.
Equifax created a website to provide more information about the breach and how this may have impacted you at www.EquifaxSecurity2017.com. Equifax is also offering a year of free Identity Theft Protection to those who's information may have been compromised. To see if your information has been compromised, please visit https://trustedidpremier.com/eligibility/eligibility.html.
Whether you have been affected or not, it is always good to monitor your bank statements and credit reports. By federal law, you are entitled to check your free credit report and there are various free fraud monitoring services. Please be advised that KCFCU does not endorse any particular service and we advise you to check which may be appropriate for you.
