- Contribute to an ongoing dialogue with the community, industry and government to establish environmental and economic goals.
MANAGEMENT
Recycled Paper: KCFCU is working to use paper more efficiently and increase our use of recycled paper products. Our goal is to reduce the amount of paper used from non-sustainable forest sources as well as reduce the amount of non-recyclable paper waste from the Credit Union. In addition, KCFCU established specifications for letterhead, business cards and advertising pieces that favor the use of recycled materials. Furthermore we continue to establish relationships with state, national and global environmental organizations to join in the support and education of this cause.KCFCU has partnered with a local disposal company to handle shredding and recycling of all security sensitive materials. All non-sensitive shredded materials are first offered to local businesses for reuse. For example: Veterinarians, Pet Shops, Flower Growers, etc.
Waste: KCFCU's goal is to reduce the amount of KCFCU waste sent to the landfill on our island. Each KCFCU office has recycling centers with color coded and labeled bins for the separation and recycling of the following:

Facilities: When designing renovations and new structures for KCFCU facilities, we are committed to working with design teams that will embrace our environmental commitment.
CURRENT RESULTS
This commitment is intended to be a working document that will continuously evolve to incorporate additional environmental policies. Periodically we will track our success and post results within this policy. In 2003/2004, Kauai Community Federal Credit Union unveiled a major brand change including the change of their logo. All items that had the old logo are being reused for internal scratch paper or were brought to the recycling center.
After the first year of starting the recycling program, KCFCU collected almost a ton and a half of recycled material. In 2006, that amount increased to over 3 and a half tons of recycled material.
